There are many apparel brands originating from Guam, and today I’d like to introduce one of them – THE VALT GUAM.
The store is located on the first floor of the Micronesia Mall, a place that is easily accessible for tourists.
Apparel brands from Guam often incorporate tropical motifs, the Guam coat of arms, the Carabao, and Latte stones—iconic symbols of Guam—into their designs. By adding their unique originality, they create a distinct charm that sets them apart from other brands.
At THE VALT GUAM, the first thing you’ll notice is the vibrant and bold illustrations of tropical flowers inside the store.
The staple item for Guam-based apparel brands is undoubtedly the T-shirt, and THE VALT GUAM offers a variety of T-shirts with designs that evoke the spirit of Guam. One of the designs features the Proa, an ancient sailing vessel that was used for long ocean voyages.
Hoodies are also a must-have item in Guam fashion. This one features the Guam seal in its design.
Here, we have a women’s tank top with the stylish “HAFA ADAI” text.
Even baby bibs have a Guam-inspired design. In fact, the illustration on the bib is a traditional male necklace design that has been passed down in Guam for generations.
Looking at all of THE VALT GUAM’s designs, everything looks cool and stylish, representing a sophisticated take on Guam design. But there are also playful and fun designs.
For instance, instead of a cup of noodles, there is a cute little puppy in a “PUP NOODLE.” Another design features a cheerful phrase and illustration, probably aimed at teens, with a message like, “Let’s stay happy!”
The designs change regularly, with playful and pop-themed styles often adorning the store, and these designs have quietly gained popularity among the locals.
