When
you come to Guam and walk around the Tumon area or play at the beach, you’ll
notice large “I ♡ XX” objects with a big red heart. This is part of a
project by the Guam government, and you can find these throughout the island.
The
“XX” refers to the name of the village or area. For example, in
Tumon, right in front of the SandCastle, you’ll see “I ♡ TUMON.”
At
Ypao Beach, you’ll find this one. Nearby is also an “I ♡ GUAM” sign,
making it a popular photo spot not only for tourists but also for locals.
When
you drive to Hagåtña, you’ll see the heart sculpture near the Chamorro Village
and Paseo Stadium, right where the Statue of Liberty is. There’s no red heart
here, but it’s still a Hagåtña object.
These
heart sculptures aren’t just at tourist spots; there’s one in each village.
When located by the sea, you can take some stunning photos on clear days.
In
the village of Piti, the sculpture faces the Fish Eye Marine Observatory and
the pier that leads to it.
If
you’re planning a road trip around the island by rental car, be sure to take
pictures of each village’s heart sculpture. It will make for great photos and
wonderful memories of your Guam trip!
